Rattlesnake Gulch to the Pipeline Trail
Ending at the Salt Lake Overlook
Pipeline Trail |
Rattelsnake Gulch itself is only a 1 mile segment from the trailhead to the junction of the Pipeline Trail. Even though its short it is steep, gaining about 730'. When you get to the end of Rattlesnake Gulch Trail, you will see a small sign and take a left to the Pipeline Trail. You will follow this flat trail 1 mile on the edge of the mountain, ending at the Salt Lake Overlook. This is a great spot to have lunch before returning the way you came.

Directions:
Take I-215 south until you reach the 3900 South exit. Take a left at the top of the exit ramp and cross over I-215 heading east. At Wasatch Boulevard take a left and head north 1 block to the light at 3800 South. Take a right on 3800 South and head east through residential neighborhoods for approximately a mile before arriving at fee station. Hike Info:
4 miles round trip
elevation gain: 730'
Rattlesnake Gulch Trailhead: 5,322 ft.
Pipeline Trail Junction: 5,970 ft.
Trailhead:
Rattlsenake Gulch. Small parking area on the left. Look for this sign.
There is a garbage can and doggie bags available.
Dogs and Kids:
Dogs are allowed in Millcreek Canyon. Off-leash on odd days and on-leash on even days. This is a busy trail especially in the summer, with lots of dogs, hikers and mountain bikers.
Notes:
Because this is a busy trail, the snow on the trail will be packed down. Microspikes will be very useful and even necessary for the steep parts of the trail. You can probably get by without them but they were very useful gaining traction on the trail, and especially heading back down the rattelsnake gulch steeper sections.
